hey all...

i just gave my site a facelift (not much from the front end...but a pretty big code overhaul).

if people could maybe surf the site a bit...see if i've left any broken links/graphics/etc...i'd appreciate it greatly.

oh, and i added functionality where people can leave comments to my postings.  since this just went live this morning, all comments have 0 posts, and i look like a bigger loser than i am.  so feel free to add some posts Smile

thx!

oh...and certainly, any critiques of the site itself are more than welcomed.  have suggestions where i can do something better?  do things show up funky in your browser?  any and all feedback appreciated Smile

Is this domain yours as well?

http://www.griefer.com/

If so, maybe add a re-direct to your personal site...

yeah, i probably should (it is my domain).

originally, the www.griefer.com site was supposed to be about the history/geneology of the griefer family.

unfortunately, it's not as easy as one might think to track this kind of stuff down.  i paid some company $25 for a piece of paper that supposedly traced the history of the name...it was something like, "your ancestors probably came from Europe...your last name probably derives from Green, Graves, or Smith...your family is likely made up of males and females" Smile

i also figured that the www page could serve as a 'portal'.  i mean, i have my charlie.griefer.com...my wife has (or will have) becky.griefer.com...and as cousins/uncles/aunts want sites, maybe i can help them out as well.

but...well, you're right.  in the interim, would probably be a good thing to redirect it.

as for your comment left on the site...we're open 24/7.  BYOB and c'mon by Smile

Maybe you should check out geneology.com which has the largest geneology databases in the world, it is run by the mormans which think record keeping of this kind is a number 1 priority. Check out the site or their software and you may get a lot of information out of the deal however you will probably have to do the research yourself.

Congrats on your baby! My aunt is getting redy to have hers in October.

The site:

I like the colors and the link markers, on the code page you have "arrays and structures - part 1" listed twice, the second one should be part 2. (1st and 2nd ones)

You also have "grouping output in cf" twice, the last one and the 5th one up from the last.

I think that's all,

Jack

hey growly...

judging from the date of the original post, i'd say the facelift was done around august of 2003 Smile

actually it was more of a 'code-lift'.  didn't change the look of the site much...just tightened up the code (big time) and wanted to make sure things were still a-workin'.

:)

hey CJ-

i have couple newbie questions. fist, your site looks perfectly clean and works perfectly fine. good job! second, do you use layers to display the page? cuz, everything is centered and looks perfect. does it work like centered for every screen resolution? finally, i liked the photo section. could you tell your secret how to implement one? like when the mouse moves over one picture, then it displays the pictures in a new window?
thanx a lot for your help
