Looking for a little help, I know many of you including Pablo has set up applications that consume real estate idx feeds from MLS systems then save the information locally to a database or... Not really sure how this works and would appreciate a tutorial on this subject, perhaps with some working examples for download so I can play with and not have to reinvent the wheel

Where are you located. Region-wise? This will make all the difference. You may have to pay big bucks to get the raw data feeds to the mls/idx. I have created a system, it is proprietary software which I dont want to give out, but I may be able to help you a bit... 1st Thing: call you mls office and get access to the raw data feed. Yes I have, all I can find are services selling the application I'm trying to build and host on my own using coldfusion. Type in idx and you'll get a million services and realtor associations and so on who use idx or are writing about it, none of them how to's other than how to use our idx solution!

waynobweno I'm in New Jersey and I'll take all the help I can git! T he RAW data feeds do have a charge but they are minimal seeing that I am already a member of the MLS because I am a realtor as well. I started out in IT and Web dev and made the jump! Like a million other shmucks! lol... Now I'm just looking to create an application or build upon one already available to learn more about coldfusion and so I don't have to shell out all the $doe$ on a host for consuming idx service feeds... I checked out your demo, very nice! That would be a great starting point for what I had in mind.

Hey cf_newbie Yeah my real estate is a full featured solution. I can integrate with any MLS and pull the data down. What is cool about my system is when ever you want to list a home as a featured tour on your site, all you have to do is enter the MLS number in your admin section and the site automatically constructs the virtual tour, all the data, a GPS satellite map to your property, auto lists it with trulia.com, zillow.com and gives you the option to list with realtor.com... it has full built in virtual tours, java tours, google maps, yahoo gps'ing funtionality, search engine optimized and you can add unlimited pages to your site... It is the full featured solution! Anywho, if you are interested I could totally hook you up. It would save you approximately 560 hours. Thats what it took us. Cheers! Oh yeah and it has the idx.

Thanks, but no thanks... I noticed you stalk keywords on the forum to sell your service but that's not what I'm looking for. I can buy an application if I wanted that was full featured and make my upgrades to it. I want to own my application, make changes and upgrades and use it as I please. You have restrictions on that! Not looking to "Rent" an application. Yours is nice but by no means "finished" or comprehensive for my use, just a great starting place. Good luck with your sales hunt!

Hey CF_NEWBIE, before you judge my intentions again, you can rest assure that I will never answer another one of your trivial, petty questions. Why don't you learn how to code you hack so you don't have to grovel asking someone to answer you rediculous questions! My intention is never to use a forum to sell a program, but if someone is looking for something that I have spent a lot of time and money creating, then yeah, I will offer my services and my advice. So bon voyage pal, good luck on a project that you will probably never complete on your own!!!

Oh yeah, CF_NEWBIE, if was just trying to harvest biz off a forum, they why have I taken time to answer a slew of other people posts to various questions. To what extent have you contributed to this forum. As far as I can tell, you are just here to consume and not participate. So why don't you just delete your account and move on so we don't have to deal with you your stupid remedial questions any longer. - Angered at CF_Newbie for being stupid!

temper...temper... I know of many cf and asp and .net appz out there that have all these features plus and they are available for purchase and open source, that is why I never asked for information on how to rent an application that I don't have direct control over. That is bad for business anyway so don't be a jerk! If you read my question I was looking for a starting point application, free or cheap... So stop busting my nutz over here! And yes I did a search on this site and have found anyone asking about real estate or idx has had a reply from you pushing your wares so who ya think your bs'ing Besides I paid you a compliment on your app, you should have offered to sell it as well. FYI: I'm not new at this, its just a handle! I like to observe the human psychie to see how people act and under different conditions and when they think someone don't know jack! I am experienced, just not looking to start from scratch and you would have understood that when reading my question if you were looking to help and not sell or rather rent me your application. Anyway this question is out there still for others willing to help.
